Dodelido

โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โฏจ4.5 / 5 โ€“ editorial rating

Say what appears most often โ€“ color? Animal? Or "Dodelido"? Sounds easy. It isn't.

How it plays

Players reveal cards onto three piles in turn and must instantly call out what appears most often: the majority color or the majority animal. On a tie: "Dodelido!" With a turtle: add "Oh!" in front. Hesitate, stutter or call it wrong, and you collect all the cards. First player with none left wins.

What it trains

Dodelido demands category switches by the second (color? animal? count?), majority comparisons and suppression of the obvious-but-wrong answer โ€“ with special rules butting in for good measure. It trips up even practiced adult brains and trains precisely that mental switching ability.

Especially good for

  • Families who can laugh at themselves
  • Flexibility training from age 8
  • Teen and adult groups โ€“ a popular nightcap game

Less suitable for

  • Kids who freeze up when speaking under pressure
  • Anyone embarrassed by mistakes โ€“ everyone makes them here
