Everyone can see your cards โ€“ except you: a cooperative fireworks display for the memory.

age 8+2โ€“5 playersapprox. 25 min.

How it plays

All players hold their cards facing away โ€“ you only ever see everyone else's hand. Together, the team builds a fireworks display in five colors, in ascending order. Scarce clue tokens let you give hints ("These two cards are blue"). When you play a card, you rely on memory and logic alone.

What it trains

Hanabi is working-memory training in its purest form: hints received must be retained, combined and updated across many turns. Add perspective-taking โ€“ good clues require thinking through what the other person knows. Spiel des Jahres 2013, and deservedly so.
