Dreamlike artwork, subtle clues: the game that exercises language feel and empathy at the same time.
The storyteller picks one of their dreamlike picture cards and gives a clue โ a word, a sentence, a sound. Everyone else secretly adds one of their own cards that could match too. Then everything is shuffled, revealed and voted on: which was the original card? Clues that are too obvious or too cryptic score nothing.
Dixit trains the high art of calibrated communication: the clue must be apt but not unambiguous โ which demands nuanced vocabulary, a feel for metaphor and a sense of how the others think. For quieter, imaginative children it often becomes the favorite game.
